Theme Music

Copyright free, MP3 file

5 minutes 17 seconds

I will use this theme music to help the promotional animation less boring and relate more to target audience.

I have designed and produced all my assets for my animation. I created my illustrations on Adobe Illustrator, and I recorded my voiceovers using my own voice. I have edited these voiceovers in Adobe Audition to remove background noise and make my voice clearer. I may have used assets from different scene files in different scenes. Some shots only involved text so I didn't have to illustrate any assets for this. I will be taking these assets into adobe Animate so I can create the animation through tweening. I will then take the finished animation into Adobe Premiere Pro to add voiceovers and subtitles. This will improve the accessibility of the product for those who cannot hear or see.

                                     Target Audience Animation

Club Europe is a company that has music, sports and Skii tours for schools, colleges and university. They have asked me to create an animation that tells young people how to pack and prepare for a holiday abroad with their school.

Reading this client brief, I have chosen to target teenagers ages 13-18 of all genders and ethnicities. I decided to go for an older target audience because I think they are more likely to go abroad on holiday and have permission from their parents to do so. Furthermore, this age group would be responsible for packing their own bag and sorting everything out so they can go abroad; they don’t necessarily need their parent’s help. I am also choosing to target all genders and ethnicities so the animation has a broad audience, and it appeals to every person who might go on a Club Europe tour. I am going to target social grades E and D because these school tours are for students who might or might not have a job, they could ask their parents to pay for the trip or pay it themselves. The purpose of the animation is to inform and educate the target audience; teach them how to pack their bags and the procedure for going abroad. Therefore, I want to make sure the animation is simpler so it doesn’t distract them from the information that will be given to them. I have decided to use 2D animation because it isn’t as childlike as 3D animation and the animation is only to show the audience what to do.

To help those who have disabilities, I will use voiceovers for those who can’t see my animation. I will also use subtitles for those who can hear but can’t see my animation. This is to make sure my informative animation has accessibility and can be understood by everyone.

The client brief also asked me to use the same fonts and colour scheme as the Club Europe website. Therefore, I am using the fonts and colours that you can seein the client brief.

This is a GANTT chart. I learnt in unit 2 that a GANTT chart helps you manage the tasks that need doing, the deadlines and how I will meet the final deadline of completing my animation. As you can see I have included the tasks and activities, timings etc that you would normally find on a GANTT chart.

                                  Contingency Table/Backup Plan

Problem or risk

Risk level

How to prevent or solve the problem

Not being able to record foley sounds because microphone dies

Medium

Make sure microphone is fully charged and potentially take another microphone as a backup.

Illness

Low

Animation might take longer than expected

Medium

Try and make the animation simple and possibly use tweening.

Sounds are not clear

Low

Record the sounds and voiceovers a few times so I can choose the best one.

Tripping, falling, and dropping sound equipment

Medium

If there are any wires, I should make sure they are out of the way so I don’t trip on them. I should use the neck strap if I am using a microphone on a camera and I should make sure the environment is safe to record sounds first.

I had to create a contingency plan that I learnt about in unit 2. A contingency plan helps me plan for things that may go wrong and how I can overcome them. These are important to help me keep on track with my animation unit.

Club Europe Animation- Legal and Ethical Issues

For the informative Club Europe animation, I need to consider some legal and ethical issues. If I don’t follow these laws or societal expectations, the animation will be breaking some laws or it will be controversial.

Copyright prevents someone from using an artist’s work without their permission or without a license from the copyright owner. Copyright covers artwork, graphics, writing, music…. I will have to make sure my animation doesn’t copy any other animations other companies have made or I would be breaking the copyright law. The animation would either be taken down, I could be fined or even sent to prison. Therefore, I need to make sure my animation is original. I will also be creating my own assets except the background music that will either be royalty free or credited to the creator so I will way less likely to by copyright striked.

The client brief doesn’t state where the animation will be distributed. We don’t know it is going to be part of a multi-media advertising campaign or what medium it will be shown across. Therefore, I will state what regulatory bodies there are and how the animation would follow the laws they enforce. Ofcom regulates TV, radio, video on demand and mobile content services. Ofcom regulates TV advertisements alongside the ASA (Advertising Standards Agency) to make sure no misleading comments are made and it is appropriate for children, so it is allowed before the 9PM watershed timing. The animation might be shown as a TV advertisement, so this is relevant. Since animation is moving image, the only other places it can be on are moving billboards and social media

Libel is a written statement that is damaging to a person’s reputation and Slander is a spoken statement that is damaging to a person’s reputation. To stop any miss information in the animation that is against the ASA’s rules, I will do my research to make sure everything I write or say is correct. I won’t be referencing anyone so I cannot be libel or slander.

There are some ethical issues I need to be aware of. I cannot have anything violent or scary (disturbing imagery), any swearing or anything offensive in the animation if it is aimed at children and teenagers. This will stop the animation from being on certain platforms and this will also ruin Club Europe’s reputation as a company for schools and colleges. I will make sure the animation has accessibility so everyone can understand it as well, so this makes it an ethically good animation.
