M2: SWOT analysis

                         SWOT Analysis

Here is my SWOT analysis that I am creating for the Club Europe animation. This will help me find out what the strengths are of the product, what weaknesses I need to be aware of, what opportunities this animation might bring and the threats I need to be aware of. We learnt what SWOT analysis is in unit 2. SWOT analysis is when you evaluate the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats of a product, this is used in the planing stage to make sure the product is successful.

Strengths:

One strength of my Club Europe animation is it achieves the purpose of informing teenagers about how to pack and prepare for a holiday abroad, this also meets the client brief. I will do this by creating a step by step guided animation and show the audience how to pack and what they need to know. I will use text and subtitles to make sure this information is clear and concise. I am also going to use subtitles for accessibility; people who can't hear and those that can't see very well. This is another strength since this animation should be able to be understood by everyone and more people will watch it. The 2D animation style is also a strength of the product. This means the target audience are not distracted by the animation, it is simple and they can focus more on the information being presented to them. I will also meet the client brief by using the colour scheme and the fonts. I will use the colour scheme in most of the backgrounds, my character and I will use the fonts for the subtitles and for the steps. I have also created lots of preproduction documents to help me structure the animation, this is a strength because this means the animation will look more organised and this will create a better product in result. Furthermore, I will be using lots of different sound effects which will make the animation lively.

Weaknesses:

However, there are some weaknesses of the Club Europe animation. The target audience might find the animation boring and tedious, they might think it is just another boring animation created by a business. To counter this, I will use bright colours and try to make the animation simple. Another weakness of this animation is there will be language barriers. Not everyone speaks English and understands it. However, this could also be an opportunity as well because I can change the subtitles and text for some of the languages which will reach a larger audience for Club Europe. The last weakness I will have to consider is using cheesy sound effects. I will however try to limit the sound effects so they are more effective.

Opportunities:

The Club Europe animation also gives me and the company lots of opportunities. Club Europe might ask me to create more animated videos. This means I could be offered a job by Club Europe and I would be offered a lot of money. Another opportunity is my characters and illustrations can be used across different mediums (TV, posters, games, social media etc.) as a multi-media advertising campaign. This gives the opportunity for the teenage target audience to see the illustrations and it raises brand awareness for Club Europe. Using my animation/illustrations, Club Europe have the opportunity to create and sell their own merchandise. In my animation, I could have the character packing some merchandise into their suitcase to show the viewers. An opportunity for me is if other companies see my animation, they might ask me to create animations for them as well which opens new job opportunities for me.

Threats:

There are lots of threats I need to consider. The first threat relates to other companies that have produced 2D informative animations as well. I want the Club Europe animation to convey the information it needs to, be interesting but also stand out from the competitors. I will use subtitles, fun characters and simple illustrations but one thing that will stand out is I will use theme music that you will associate with Club Europe. Another threat I will have to consider is my own limited experience with animation. I have had lots of experience using Adobe Illustrator and Premiere Pro, however I haven't had experience using adobe Animate and Adobe Character. Furthermore, I have a set deadline I have to meet but it will take longer than I have to illustrate and animate. To counter this, I will create a GANTT chart to help me break down what to do on each day. This will help me meet the deadlines set.
